How water chemistry affects your pool liner – CYA

CYA may stand for many things, but for your pool water is stands for cyanuric acid which is used to stabilize the chlorine in your pool.  And it should be kept above 50 ppm. Its’ main job is to reduce the burn off of chlorine by sunlight, so it is more effective for longer periods. Stabilized chlorine (pucks or granular) have this mixed in. However it is not only good for the chlorine, it is good for your vinyl pool liner. It protects your liner from the effect of pH swings and from the chlorine itself.
